Why does your office charge a no-show and cancellation fee?

Many patients do not realize how their no show or cancellation affects other patients. When our office has a high rate of no show and/or cancellations then it affects other patient’s ability to get in and be seen by the provider in a timely fashion. We also have a high responsibility to provide our patients with the highest level of care and want our patients to be just as responsible in receiving care and communicating with the office so that the best outcomes are met. As such we do charge a cancellation fee of $100 when appointments are canceled with <72 hours’ notice and $100 for no show and no call to appointment for insured patients. Self pay patients or self pay visits (for example acupuncture) will forfeit the entire cost of the visit  if they violate our cancellation policy. This is in line with industry standard and area practices.
